VONA explained

Value now versus what is likely to be available later

VONA—value over next available—frames the real draft question: not only which player is best now, but what you give up by waiting until your next relevant pick.

Why the best available player is not always the best pick

A player can lead the current board while a similar option is likely to survive. At another position, the final strong starter may be about to disappear. VONA compares those opportunity costs.

Multiple future horizons

Picktator evaluates more than one upcoming selection, including special handling around snake-draft turns. This helps distinguish a short wait from a long gap between picks.

Availability simulation

The recommendation model simulates opponent selections to estimate who may remain. Live Sleeper drafts can also use observed manager tendencies, while manual drafts use a neutral opponent model.

Roster value still matters

VONA is not a pure scarcity score. Picktator also considers starter requirements, flex value, shared replacement levels and whether a selection would strengthen the starting lineup or only add bench depth.
